The support of the Monastery is not limited to prayer and financial support. Two additional ways in which people contribute include volunteer work and practical supplies.
Work: The Monastery coordinates a Spring and an Autumn workday each year. These events are magnificent times of fun and fellowship, working alongside fellow pilgrims and the monastic community to accomplish in a few hours what would be insurmountable for the community to do on its own. In addition to workdays, pilgrims are also encouraged (especially if staying for a longer visit) to ask for a blessing to work while they are visiting. There are almost always simple, but important, tasks that need to be done and these offerings to God lighten the load on the community.
Supplies: Often our pilgrims follow the pious tradition of bringing practical gifts, for example, paper products, office supplies, food items, olive oil, flowers, and similar offerings. To those unfamiliar with this practice, it may seem that such gifts are insignificant, but in fact they are a tremendous means of supporting the day-to-day operations of the Monastery. If you would like to contribute in this way you are welcome to call in advance of your next visit to find out our current needs.
